The final major release this week is our update to G Suite Integration. Recently Google made some changes to their Apps Marketplace to improve security by migrating all access points to Oauth2, the introduction of Google+ Sign-in as a method for accessing Apps and a number of other behind-the-scenes changes.
Now, whilst this update was essentially a rewrite of the back end, we did take the opportunity to make some improvements and add some new features.
WORK[etc] for G Suite CRM v3.0
G Suite is a powerful suite of business tools built heavily around E-mail and Storage services for business. What the WORK[etc] deep integration does is allow you access WORK[etc] powerful business management and CRM tools inside of G Suite as well as accessing G Suite tools inside of your WORK[etc] account.
For example, you can:
- Access your Google Drive documents inside of WORK[etc]
- Sync your Google calendar with WORK[etc]’s calendar – great for getting project deadlines or sales events on your mobile calendars.
- Use the Gmail widget to turn any email into a new sales lead, update a project, assign a support case or create a new invoice sale.
- Sync contacts between WORK[etc] and Google Contacts, creating simple rules to identify personal contacts versus business contacts.
Gmail Widget
Without a doubt the most utilized G Suite tool is Gmail and with WORK[etc] Gmail widget, you can manage your entire business without ever leaving your inbox.
For example, with just a few clicks from inside of Gmail you can take any email and:
- update your project by attaching the email (and any attachment)
- create a new sales lead, attaching the original email and entering any notes
- create a new support ticket and assign to someone in your team to resolve
- simply attach the email and attachments to a contact record
- record a timesheet from an email or enter a new invoice item.
Aside from optimizing the code for performance, the big change here is that the Widget will no longer attempt to load details for every email. If you decide you do want to attach an item, then loading in the widget on that email is just one single click. If you think about the hundreds of emails you receive each week, you’ll only ever want to actually work with a handful and by not loading up the Widget on every email view, we’ve managed to speed up your Gmail client also.
If your business is not a current a G Suite customer, we recommend that you take a fresh look at the offering. We use G Suite internally at WORK[etc] and you can see how much the integration is appreciated just from the 246 certified 5-star reviews from our customers.
Available Now: Important Note for Existing G Suite Users
All G Suite Integrations, for all accounts have already been upgraded. The administrator of your WORK[etc] account would have received a confirmation email from G Suite as well as an email from ourselves. The last step that needs to be taken is for your G Suite account admin to Configure Global Security Settings. Please, if you struggle with this get straight in touch with our support team so that they can assist.
We’d love to hear how you’ve been using the G Suite + WORK[etc] Integration in your business – tell us in the comments for your chance at a re-tweet!

I love your forward thinking! I would very much like to see some of this new functionality in your other integration’s such as iOS
This is great! I love Google drive and this makes using it so much more convenient! Yay for Work Etc.!
A great update as always, thank you. Being able to complete so many WORKetc tasks from within Gmail is great.
I’d like to see the ‘Unread Work Items’ widget sync with Gmail so I don’t have to get rid of emails I’ve already read in Gmail.
@disqus_pPkXGwqvFx:disqus – not as easy as we’d like, but iOS is looking good and shaping up well.
@johnbelchamber:disqus – again, probably more complex than it seems on the surface, but it’s certainly something that would be valuable to many. Probably worth popping it onto the Feature Suggestion Forum though if you could.
It’s been a slightly rocky few weeks at times, with a few tweaks needed on this along the way. Thanks for bearing with us while we made sure that Google were completely happy with the way we were bringing the apps together.
We love the gmail widget, it takes care of filing our communications quickly and easily and the added features allow us to do more no doubt. the widget alone has given us one more critical tool in going paperless (we’re mostly there) – Thanks!
Gmail link to Work Etc is so easy to use, gets all my email organized and linked to projects, events, task, contact, etc. Emails are visible to the rest of the organization as they where with Outlook Exchange public folders. Excellent Widget!
The Googles Apps Integrations really help to streamline things. Being able to import calendars, contacts, and Drive really takes another step in completely unifying the business dashboard experience. Keep up the good work guys!
I also use this type of CRM- ryšių
sistema and I believe that apps is reachable from all devices 🙂
The G Suite integration is the best I have come accross from any CRM system. Work[etc] CRM is also the best CRM in terms of sync with your calendar & emails. Also the ability to attach anything including emails to any activity, contact, project…just about anything really. What makes it stand out, it can do all this directly after reading an email! Supurb!
Thanks Daniel this is a great article to reference! I will have to use some of your suggestions when pushing out more gmail features!
Great article Daniel. I have not had the chance to use the Gmail widget yet but will definitely have to try it out as I work in Gmail all day.
I am not really interested in the Gmail widget, but I will keep it in mind if I ever need such features. Thank you for keeping us informed whenever you push out new features. There is so much to WorkEtc that sometimes we do not even know what we are missing until we read about it.
I use this every single day. Managing 20+ projects without tagging the emails is simply impossible. I use it for managing contacts with leads. I use it for having a history of what communications were made with each project member or stakeholder. You click on the project stream and you see what happened.
The only thing I’m struggling with is how to put all attachments of an email in gmail in one project folder of google apps/drive in one click and see and find these attachments back in worketc. I would like to be able to link all attachments in gmail to a project in worketc in one click.
I love the gmail intergration it streamlines our processes and ensures team colaboration.
The Gmail gadget has been a great time saver, allowing me to quickly assign emails to projects and leads. The new updates are welcomed, making the pages load faster, especially when email threads are up in the 50 to 100 emails.
I installed this a few days ago and its going to save me lots of time.
I like that I am able to attach emails and sync my calendar. Increases business productivity time. I’m all about productivity. While I’m checking gmail, and other important information I can assign tickets and work tickets. Great time saver.
I love how the gmail widget works, due to being an computer support company I get a lot of emails to my gmail account for support. I am able to attach those emails to a support case already open or a task. I love this for invoices that I get just a few simple clicks and I am able to attach the invoice to an expanse. Saves me a lot of time.
I have seen the tab to connect to google apps through Work[etc] for a while now but haven’t ever clicked it!! Will have to give it a go now having read the features – especially Gmail integration and the improved security. We currently use the outlook plugin also but it will be nice to tie all our emails together.
SInce we started using Worketc we used the gmail gadget for our e-mails. It is very usefull to use to easily add mails to your client or even make an invoice.
